What Is a Buyer’s Agent?

For years all the agents involved in a real estate transaction represented the best interests of the Seller. The agent that was showing the seller’s home was actually a sub-agent of the seller. As consumer protection legislation began gaining momentum real estate was included. In The State of Georgia this legislation is called the “Brokerage Relationships in Real Estate Transactions Act”. What this law states is that buyers of real estate in Georgia are entitled to representation just as the seller is. This representation, by law, must be in writing and is generally completed by using the “Exclusive Buyer Brokerage Agreement” form as is written by the Georgia Association of REALTORS.

What Does a Buyer’s Agent Do?
